Government
Mount Hebron Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbytery of Baltimore, the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic, and is a member church of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A).
A board known as the Session governs the Church. The Session is comprised of the pastor, who serves as moderator and chair, and nine church members elected by the congregation and ordained as elders. The elders normally serve a three-year term, with three elders elected each year to stagger the years of service.
The Board of Deacons oversees the finances and property of the church. Nine members comprise the Board, and the congregation elects three Deacons each year to three-year staggered terms in the same way as the Session. The Board of Deacons also serves as the legal Trustees of the church.
Every member of the congregation who is active in the Church's work and worship has the right to vote at the congregational meetings and to be elected as an elder or deacon. In January, the congregation elects members to serve on a Nominating Committee. This committee finds people willing to serve. New elders and deacons are normally elected on the first Sunday in May, and begin their term of service after being installed in June.
